Riani Singgih

Riani (she/her) is a Documentary Producer, Director and Cinematographer based in Indonesia.

 

Growing up in foreign communities, Riani has always been interested in telling stories about identity and the idea of ‘home’. She has recently participated in IDFAcademy 2023,  Doc Toolbox by EFM Berlinale 2023, Docs by The Sea 2022 and 2023, IF/Then SEA Shorts by Tribeca 2020 and Yamagata Documentary Dojo 2021. Her Documentary short films in the past have played in over 50 film festivals around the world including Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and Palm Springs Short Film Festival and won awards locally in Festival Film Dokumenter with 'Best Short Film' 2022. Her latest Documentary about a Deaf sign language singer called A Sonorous Melody is part of Good Pitch SEA that will pitch for impact distribution in 2024.

Riani is currently producing her first feature Documentary named "Becoming Cik San" which won the Docs by The Sea Pitch prize and the IDFA Spotlight awards at the Docs by the Sea Lab and Pitching Forum.

 

Riani co-founded Seven Ten Media, a Production House that aims to represent marginalized voices and diverse perspectives in Indonesia. The company’s work has been featured in Vice Media, Eastern Standard Times, Voice of America, Discovery Channel and more.
